“Give blood, give life.” Héma-Québec
Interior Redesign
In 2001, Héma-Québec ordered a makeover of its Globule permanent blood donor centre. The challenge involved better organizing the space so that donors and qualified staff would cross paths as little as possible. As a project manager with the firm Julien Architects, I first conducted extensive research into the spatial planning needs of the donor centre. To get inspiration and maximize the centre’s returns, we toured a Red Cross centre in the United States—an amazing experience! Héma-Québec now has three Globule blood donor centres, which I am proud to have worked on: Place Versailles and Centre Laval in the Montréal area, and Place Laurier in Québec City. I have also worked on several redevelopment projects in the laboratories and offices in the Montréal centre over the years (until 2010).
