The annual conference of the Quebec Architects Association was held in Saguenay in September 2018 and focused on wood. Although wood has always been an integral part of buildings, it is today very trendy and, contrary to what you may believe, it is little known.
Wood offers several benefits and properties in the construction of buildings. Above all it is sustainable and increasingly used in Quebec. Since 2015, the Quebec Construction Code allows constructions of six-storey wood buildings while it was previously limited to four storeys. That is why we now see non-residential buildings with an often exposed wooden and even highlighted structure.
